Express interest

A structured annual form collects expressions of interest for AY 2026 to 2027. It supports consistent review, cohort planning, and participant communication.

  • A personal Gmail address for Google Classroom access
  • A telephone number connected to WhatsApp
  • Institution, role, teaching responsibilities, and relevant links
  • Experience in mathematics, olympiad training, or community outreach
  • Commitment to live sessions, Academy instructions, and cycle teacher presentations

The AY 2026 to 2027 expression of interest form will appear here when its verified Google Form link is activated. Please use the form for application information.

Frequently asked

A few common questions.

Who is the Academy for?

The Academy is a professional development program for secondary school mathematics teachers across the MENA region. Their students benefit from stronger olympiad instruction.

Is the program free of charge?

The Academy operates as an educational initiative. SITE funded its development while part of the NYU Abu Dhabi Research Institute. Year One closed with an onsite summer intensive at NYU Abu Dhabi from 16 to 20 June 2025. Selected participants receive cost information in advance.

What languages are sessions held in?

Sessions and written notes use English. Clear mathematical notation and accessible exposition support teachers working across several classroom languages.

How are participants selected?

Each cycle opens applications between rounds. Selection is based on teaching background, mathematical experience, and demonstrated commitment to olympiad level instruction. We aim for a balanced cohort across the participating countries.

Do I need olympiad experience to apply?

Qualified secondary school mathematics teachers may apply at any level of prior olympiad experience. A serious interest in olympiad mathematics and a willingness to teach it guide selection.

What is the time commitment?

A cycle normally consists of two to four live online sessions led by a coach, each roughly three hours, followed by a teacher presentation. Sessions run approximately every two weeks in the late afternoon. Scheduling reflects coach availability and regional time differences. The online Academy year runs from the middle of September to the middle of June.

Is the Academy connected to NYU Abu Dhabi formally?

The Academy developed through SITE funding while SITE was part of the NYU Abu Dhabi Research Institute. MIMS, the Mediterranean Institute for the Mathematical Sciences, serves as academic partner. NYU Abu Dhabi platforms have hosted online sessions, and its campus hosted the funded Year One intensive.
